Abstract
The efficiency of two newly developed organic compounds of the triazoles ty pe namely: bis [4-amino-5-hydroxy-1, 2, 4-triazol-3-yl] methane 'compound D -1' and his [4-amino-5-hydroxy-1, 2, 4-triazol-3-yl] butane 'compound D-2` as corrosion inhibitors for copper in 4.0 M HNO3 solutions at 25 degrees C was investigated using both weight loss and galvanostatic polarization tech niques. The results showed that the predominant action of the inhibitors wa s cathodic. The two inhibitors proved to be effective (>99%) with long term effectiveness.
