TANNINS FROM THE LEAVES OF PUNICA-GRANATUM

Leaves of Punica granatum contain the new gallotannins, 1,2,4-tri-O-ga lloyl-beta-glucopyranose and 1,3,4-tri-O-galloyl-beta-glucopyranose to gether with the hitherto unknown ellagitannins, oyl-3,6-(R)-hexahydrox ydiphenyl-beta-glucopyranose and brevifolin carboxylic acid 10-monopot assium sulphate. Structures were established by conventional methods o f analysis and confirmed by H-1, C-13 NMR, 2D-chemical shift correlati on NMR and ESI-MS (negative mode) spectrometric analysis.
