Cellulitis syndromes: an update

Cellulitis is a commonly seen clinical syndrome that is most often associat ed with beta-haemolytic streptococci and Staphylococcus aureus. Several med ical conditions and a variety of procedures can predispose to the developme nt of cellulitis by a common mechanism: venous and lymphatic compromise. Th e precise pathophysiologic and immunologic details involved in the predispo sition to cellulitis remain poorly understood.
