Abstract
(RExY1-x)Al-3(BO3)(4) (RE = Nd, Gd, Ho, Yb and Lu) single crystals have bee n grown from fluxed melts based on potassium trimolybdate. The average RE d istribution coefficients were found to be 0.35-1.02 for different rare eart h elements. Among these solid solutions, a new polytype (Nd0.17Gd0.83)Al-3( BO3)(4) has been obtained.
