Didier Trono, MD, is Professor of Genetics and Microbiology at the Universi
ty of Geneva. After completing his training in internal medicine in Geneva
and in infectious disease at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he j
oined the laboratory of David Baltimore at the Whitehead Institute in 1986.
In 1990 he became Assistant Professor at the Salk Institute in San Diego,
where he established a new center for AIDS research. Promoted to the rank o
f Associate Professor in 1995, he moved to the University of Geneva in 1997
. His research interests focus on the molecular biology of HIV replication,
with emphasis on the virus-host cell interface, and on the development of
new approaches for the genetic treatment of human diseases.
