Abstract
In oligodendrocytes some mRNAs are transported from the perikaryon to the d istal processes and localized in the myelin compartment where they are tran slated. This review describes the cis-acting signals and trans-acting facto rs that mediate intracellular trafficking of myelin basic protein (MBP) RNA , the prototype for such mRNAs in myelinating glia.
