Abstract
A 4-year-old boy presented with a duodenal hematoma and was admitted for co nservative management including nasogastric tube drainage and parenteral nu trition, Within 2 days, the child became fungemic and went on to require ur gent laparotomy. This previously undescribed life-threatening complication of duodenal hematoma is discussed in the context of standard treatment of t his injury. Copyright (C) 2000 by W.B. Saunders Company.
