Abstract
Measured room temperature nitrogen-broadening coefficients are given for ab out 60 Lambda-doublets belonging to the allowed sub-bands of the first over tone of nitric oxide, between 3620 and 3790 cm(-1). Whereas a slight differ ential broadening (3.2% on the average) is observed between the two sub-ban ds, no significant vibrational dependence appears when one compares these V alues with those available for the fundamental band. Combining the N-2-broa dening coefficients with the O-2-broadening coefficients recently published , the air-broadening required for atmospheric applications appears to be lo wer than the N-2-broadening by 2%.
