Abstract
A newly synthesized methylviologen-bound iron porphyrin chloro(5-{4-[3-(1'- methyl-4,4'-bipyridinium)ethylcarboxyamidyl]phenyl}-10,15,20-triphenylporph yrin)iron dichloride, efficiently catalyzes six-electron reduction of nitro benzene to aniline, a model reaction of NO2- conversion to NH4+ by nitrite reductase.
