Tinsley (2000) poses a paradox: P-E Fit works. but Holland's hexagon does n
ot. I illustrate the virtues of the P-E Fit model (or the P-E Interaction m
odel) as a paradigm for psychology by deriving the concepts of self and per
sonality from the model and discussing the implications of such derivation
for psychological assessment. I also show how the measurement of P-E Fit mi
ght benefit from the mathematical concept of correspondence. Finally, I spe
culate on how Holland's use of six types is both blessing and curse. (C) 20
