Abstract
A new method to grow thin films of Q-cadmium sulfide is described. The stoi chiometry was studied by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. The films were studied by electron diffraction. Optical absorption shows well- structured spectra with a blue-shift as compared with bulk cadmium sulfide. Photoluminescence maxima are observed at similar to 400 nm. A possible mec hanism of formation of Q-cadmium sulfide films and its correlation with opt ical properties is discussed.
