METHODS AND FINDINGS IN EXPERIMENTAL AND CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
A multicenter, prospective, open-label postmarketing surveillance study exa
mined to what extent 2-month oral hormone replacement therapy (estradiol va
lerate and levonorgestrel; Klimonorm(R)) could produce changes in psychosom
atic well-being, self esteem and cognitive capabilities in 78 peri- and pos
tmenopausal women. The women included were 42-58 years of age and had appro
ached the physician due to climacteric symptoms. The following tests were u
sed: Kupperman index, Menopause Rating Scale (MRS II), General Depression S
cale (ADS), Zerssen's Symptom List (B-L), Frankfurt Self-Concept Scales (FS
AL, FSAP, FSEG, FSSW), Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST), d2 Test of At
tention and Number Square Test. The results showed a clear improvement in s
ubjective psychosomatic well-being and improvements to a lesser extent in t
he concentration and cognitive capabilities in women in the third treatment
cycle. (C) 2000 Prous Science. All rights reserved.
