Collectins and innate immunity in the lung

Evidence from both in vitro and in vivo studies suggests that the collectin s are important elements in host innate immune defences against infectious agents. Study of the collectins in specific disease settings now raises the prospects of developing therapies exploiting these mechanisms of innate im munity.
