A. Hermanne et al., Experimental study of excitation functions for some reactions induced by deuterons (10-50 Mev) on natural Fe and Ti, NUCL INST B, 161, 2000, pp. 178-185
Stacks containing high purity natural Fe and Ti foils were irradiated in de
uteron beams with incident energies of 30 and 50 MeV. Reactions on Al foils
were used for monitoring beam energy and intensity. The excitation functio
ns up to 50 MeV for Ti-nat(d, x)Sc-44m,Sc-46,Sc-47,Sc-48, (nat)(Fe(d, X)Co-
55,Co-57, Mn-52,Mn-54, Cr-51 are presented and compared with the scarce lit
erature values. No sharp peaks enabling clear identification of contributin
g reactions on the different naturally occurring isotopes are present. Only
for the reactions Fe-56(d, n)Co-57 (Q = -2.1 MeV), Fe-56(d, alpha or 2p2n)
Mn-54 (Q values respectively 5.7 and -22.6 MeV), Ti-48(d, alpha or 2p2n)Sc-
46 (Q values 4 and -24.3 MeV) and Ti-48(d, 2pn)Sc-47 (Q = -13.7 MeV) on the
major natural isotopes of Fe and Ti the cross sections reach values higher
than 50 mb in the energy region studied. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Al
