Abstract
Energy spectra of protons channeling along the (1 1 1) plane of a Si-28 cry stal in the energy region E-p = 1.7-2.4 MeV in a backscattering geometry we re taken and analyzed. Computer simulations based on the assumption that th e dechanneling of protons follows an exponential law are in excellent agree ment with the measured spectra. Differences between the (1 0 0) and the (1 1 1) axis in the silicon crystal and their subsequent effect on the stoppin g power of channeled protons are described.
