Abstract
An application of the particle induced gamma-ray emission (PIGE) method wit h the use of a CLOVER-Ce-BGO detector system (Elekes et al., 1999) for the analysis of source materials of obsidians of archaeological use is reported in this work. Grouping and association of samples resulted via various mag matic processes, with diverse provenances, is detailed based on the light e lement concentration data. A comparison of PIGE with the laser ablation-ind uctively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) on heavier elements i s presented. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
