The reaction between the lithate [Li(THF)(4)]-[CH2SiMe2C(SiMe3)(2)LiC(SiMe3
)(2)SiMe2CH2] and MnCl2 has given a chloride-bridged high-spin lithium mang
anate, isolated as Li(THF)(2.75)(Et2O)(0.25)(mu-Cl)MnC(SiMe3)(2)SiMe2CN2CH2
Me2Si(Me3Si)(2)C, shown by an X-ray study to contain three-coordinate plana
r manganese. The ligand precursor HC(SiMe3)(2)SiMe2CH2CH2Me2Si(Me3Si)(2)CH
reacts with methylcesium to give a compound isolated after recrystallizatio
n from benzene as (C6H6)(3)CsC(SiMe3)SiMe2CH2CH2Me2Si(Me3Si)(2)CCs(C6H6)(3)
, in which benzene solvate molecules show a variety of hapticities.
