Abstract
Comprehensive health assessments often are performed in school-based clinic
s or public health clinics by health professionals other than pediatricians
. Pediatricians or other physicians skilled in child health care should par
ticipate in such evaluations. This statement provides guidance on the scope
of in-school health assessments and the roles of the pediatrician, school
nurse, school, and community.
