We discuss the "spectroscopy" of gluonic states in systems with two space d
imensions, using simple models to mimic the results of lattice gauge theory
computations. We first discuss the quantum numbers of these systems, inclu
ding charge conjugation. Two types of systems are discussed in detail: "glu
elumps" which have a heavy adjoint color charge at the origin and glueballs
which are composed entirely of glue. Both systems are discussed using the
bag model and the Aux-tube model. For glueballs the model spectra are compa
red with the results of Taper. Both models capture many features of the num
erical results.
