A study is reported of photo- and thermally induced changes in the optical
absorption and photoconductivity spectra of Bi12SiO20 crystals in the 0.5-3
.5 eV spectral interval, and of the temperature dependence of optical absor
ption for temperatures from 80 to 600 K. An analysis is made of the electro
n redistribution processes between the shallow and the deep donor and accep
tor levels by invoking the configurational coordinate model. (C) 2000 MAIK
