Program review of community residential care

This article provides an overview of the Department of Veterans Affairs Com munity Residential Care Program and summarizes key literature about program s developed in the United States. Descriptive data for 1995 and 1996 are pr ovided to assist program planners in comparing and contrasting client chara cteristics and services. The authors conclude that, in addition to being co st effective, the residential care program strengthens relationships betwee n the health care facility and the community it serves.
