Continuing studies on the reactivity of the supramolecular complex [CE...I]

us receiving phase (reactive substrate) -, in a "U" shaped glass tube, we c
ame to the conclusion that these complexes carry out oxidizing activity on
reducers (ex. N2S2O3, ascorbic acid). Competition between substrates with d
ifferent reactivities (ex. tyrosine, ascorbic acid) in relation to the same
[18-crown-6...I]I-+(-) supramolecular complex also took place in a liquid
membrane type system, this time conceived in a three arms glass tube. In su
ch a system, a fast process of ascorbic acid oxidation (resulting dehydroas
corbic acid) and a slower process of regioselective iodination of tyrosine
(resulting monoiodotyrosine) developed.
