Abstract
Continuing studies on the reactivity of the supramolecular complex [CE...I] I-+(3)- (CE = 18-crown-6) in liquid membrane type systems - aqueous phase s ource (KI + I-2 reversible arrow KI3)/1,2-dichloroethane (18-crown-6)/aqueo us receiving phase (reactive substrate) -, in a "U" shaped glass tube, we c ame to the conclusion that these complexes carry out oxidizing activity on reducers (ex. N2S2O3, ascorbic acid). Competition between substrates with d ifferent reactivities (ex. tyrosine, ascorbic acid) in relation to the same [18-crown-6...I]I-+(-) supramolecular complex also took place in a liquid membrane type system, this time conceived in a three arms glass tube. In su ch a system, a fast process of ascorbic acid oxidation (resulting dehydroas corbic acid) and a slower process of regioselective iodination of tyrosine (resulting monoiodotyrosine) developed.
