Abstract
Heat capacity of polycrystalline europium haxaboride was measured in the ra nge 4.5-300 K using an adiabatic-shell calorimeter with a discrete heat inp ut. A thermal anomaly of the magnetic nature was found. The thermodynamic f unctions-the absolute entropy and the enthalpy and Gibbs energy changes-wer e calculated. The electronic, magnetic, and lattice components of the heat capacity were isolated. The enthalpy and entropy for the magnetic phase tra nsition were calculated from the temperature dependence of the magnetic com ponent.
