Hebrew documents from the Spanish Jewish community of Plasencia (1411-1492)

The present publication includes two historical documents, one in Hebrew, t he second in transliterated Hebrew-Spanish, discovered in the Plasencia Cat hedral Archives sewn to a bill of sale. The bill of sale was published in " Sefarad" 59(1999)pp.275-279 by Marciano de Hervas. The Hebrew document, dat ed in Plasencia on September 26, 1461, is a power of attorney signed by Yen to Abenataf authorizing his mother dona Vellida to freely dispose of the in heritance pertaining to hs deceased father and, most particularly, his shar e of the sale of the house. The "aljamiado" document, dated in Plasencia on September 22, 1462, is a public document attesting to the payment that don a Vellida admits having received for the sale of the house.
