Dp. Cheng et al., The directional reaction of hydrazine with silver complexes. Part 2. Influence of acidity and temperature, TRANSIT MET, 25(3), 2000, pp. 320-323
The influence of acidity and temperature on the reaction of two-coordinate
silver complexes with N2H4 has been studied. The N-2(F)% which represents t
he percentage of N-2 formed by the four-electron oxidation of N2H4 [Reactio
n (A)] was greatly increased by the presence of a trace of Cu-II ion in the
system. The N-2(F)% was also enhanced by increasing the pH and temperature
in the absence of Cu-II ion. In addition, the N-2(F)% was linearly related
to log beta(2) for the silver complexes. The log of the N-2(O)% which repr
esents the percentage of N-2 formed by the one-electron oxidation of N2H4 [
Reaction (B)] was linearly related to the 1/log beta(2) value in the presen
ce of Cu-II ions.
