Complexes of 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-bis(carbothioamide), obtained with a vari
ety of metal cations, were characterised by microanalyses, molar conductivi
ties and by i.r. and n.m.r. (for diamagnetic compounds) spectra. The iron(I
I) complex was also characterised by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The spectral d
ata indicate that, in all cases, the ligand coordinates to the metal throug
h one pyridine nitrogen and one sulphur.
