The data on catalytic dehydrocondensation of organylsilanes giving Si-Si bo
nds are systematised and generalised. The mechanism and general features (t
he influence of the nature of the reactants and the catalyst, the solvent,
and the reaction conditions) of these reactions catalysed by transition met
al cyclopentadienyl complexes are considered. Electrochemical and other met
hods of dehydrocondensation of organylsilanes are discussed.
