Abstract
CAM-Brain is the model to create neural networks based on cellular automata , and finally aims at developing an artificial brain. In particular, this m odel can rapidly evolve the neural networks composed of several thousand mo dules with special purpose computers such as CAM-8 at MIT and CBM at ATR. T his paper attempts to evolve a module of CAM-Brain for the problem to contr ol a mobile robot, especially Khepera, which might show the feasibility of evolutionary engineering to develop an artificial brain. The original model has been modified to solve a couple of problems which are caused by evolvi ng CAM-Brain to control a mobile robot, Some preliminary experiments show t he potential of CAM-Brain at the problem of control.
