F. Ronci et al., A novel approach to in situ diffractometry of intercalation materials: TheEDXD technique - Preliminary results on LiNi0.8Co0.2O2, EL SOLID ST, 3(4), 2000, pp. 174-177
The application of the energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXD) technique
to in situ structural measurements on battery materials is shown for the f
irst time. EDXD may present a promising alternative for this kind of measur
ement to the traditional diffractometric technique, even when the synchrotr
on radiation is used. The merits and drawbacks of this method are discussed
, with particular attention to the solution of the X-ray absorption problem
that, reducing the signal intensity, imposes the use of specifically desig
ned cells. Finally, preliminary results obtained in the study of a typical
commercial cathodic material for Li-ion batteries (i.e., LiNi0.8Co0.2O2) ar
e reported. (C) 2000 The Electrochemical Society. S1099-0062(99)10-028-2. A
