An excitation function of the F-19(p,alpha gamma)O-16 reaction has been mea
sured over the proton beam energy range E-p=200-800 keV using a 4 pi NaI su
mming spectrometer. A new resonance was found at E-R=237 keV and its proper
ties Gamma(R), sigma(R) and omega gamma have been extracted. The strengths
of all resonances at E-p = 200 - 800 keV have been also extracted. The impo
rtance of the 1(+) resonance at E-R=11 keV is discussed and its width has b
een estimated taking into account interference effects with the strong 1(+)
resonance at E-R=340 keV. The reaction rates have been calculated over a w
ide range of temperatures and compared with the rates of the (p,alpha(0)o)
and (p,alpha(pi)) branches of the F-19(p,alpha)O-16 reaction.
