Gb. Jackson et al., An analog record, playback, and processing system on a chip for mobile communications devices, IEEE J SOLI, 35(3), 2000, pp. 446-449
We present a low-power chip for nonvolatile storage and conditioning of voi
ceband analog audio signals and nonvolatile storage for use in mobile commu
nication devices. The system allows for direct interface to acoustic transd
ucer elements and provides signal conditioning to gain adjust, multiples, f
ilter, and mis two independent signals. The system can record these process
ed signals as analog samples in a nonvolatile flash EEPROM array for later
retrieval, Together with an integrated signal path, the system can store up
to 8 minutes of audio signal, Control of the system is achieved via a seri
al interface, which is used to configure and control the device. All necess
ary components of the system are provided on chip including analog processi
ng elements, nonvolatile storage, high voltage, and reference generation.
