Abstract
The titanium alloy liner tank for the spherical composite gas bottle is con ventionally fabricated from the close - die forged hemispheres with integra l bosses. Because of considerable cost saving, we have used hemispheres for med from hot rolled plate with end bosses electron beam welded to them in o ur effort to develop Kevlar wound composite gas bottle. The adequacy and so undness of the fabrication route is established through a series of qualifi cation tests carried out on the plates, liner tank and the composite gas bo ttles. This paper discusses the fabrication route and qualification tests f ollowed in the developmental work.
