Abstract
Currently in veterinary medicine, ciprofloxacin is often used in susceptibi lity testing to represent the entire class of fluoroquinolone antimicrobial s. Using quality control organisms as well as clinical isolates, we compare d the MIC of ciprofloxacin to those of three other fluoroquinolones used in animals and found that ciprofloxacin is not an adequate representative of other members of this class.
