Abstract
We report a case of endocarditis in a human infected with Bartonella vinson ii subsp. berkhoffii, which causes bacteremia and endocarditis in dogs. Bac terial identification was established by PCR amplification and sequencing o f an intergenic spacer region (ITS1), 16S ribosomal DNA, and a gene encodin g citrate synthase (gltA). Bartonella antibodies were detected by immunoflu orescence.
