A method for determining the generalized envelope from two neighboring refe
rences of realization of a standard random process taking into account the
coefficient of correlation of these references is considered. It is shown t
hat, for a non-Gaussian random process with an elliptically symmetric two-d
imensional probability density, the distribution of the generalized envelop
e coincides with the distribution of an ordinary envelope determined by mea
ns of the Hilbert transformation.
