Abstract
The title reaction performed in the DMSO-NaOH system resulted in the format ion of 2,3-diphenyl-2,3-(2'-cyanophenyl)butanedioic acid diamide, which was selectively hydrolysed to 2,3-diphenyl-2,3-(2'-cyanophenyl)butanedioic aci d.
