Abstract
The chemical investigation of MeOH extracts of Gentiana lutea leaves and fl owers showed that xanthones were one of the dominant class of compounds. Se coiridoids and flavonoids were also recorded. The amount of secondary metab olites varied depending on development st-age. In the phase of flowering, l eaves are rich with compounds possessing C-glycoside structures while O-gly coside structures accumulate mainly before flowering.
