Destructive acylation of copper(II) naphthoyl- and anisoylacetonates with s
ubstituted benzoyl chlorides yielded beta-diketones containing two aromatic
substituents. Their reaction with boron trifluoride etherate in the presen
ce of tributyl berate gave the corresponding boron difluoride beta-diketona
tes. The majority of the boron difluoride chelates prepared show a bathoflo
ric shift of the fluorescence maximum as compared to the fluorescence spect
ra of boron difluoride naphthoyl- and anisoylacetonates.
