The possibility of nucleophilic aromatic substitution in 4-bromo-5-nitropht halodinitrile was examined by quantum-chemical calculations; trans format i on of 4-bromo-5-nitrophthalodinitrile into 4-hydroxy-5-nitrophthalodinitril e by reaction with sodium nitrite was performed experimentally.
