Abstract
The Herglotz algorithm for constructing autonomous canonical transformation s that was presented by Guenther, Gottsch, and Kramer in [SIAM Rev., 38 (19 96), pp. 287-293] is extended to include nonautonomous canonical transforma tions and a remainder function R* that is related to a generating function by R* = partial derivative F/partial derivative t.
