Abstract
The preparation of isolated quantum dots of compound semiconductors is in i ts infancy. Such materials have potential in a wide range of technological applications from LEDs to sensors. An interesting feature of these developm ents is that it seems likely that materials prepared by conventional 'wet c hemistry' methods may find use in high-technology areas.
