Three wishes concerning sociological theory

The article recommends three foci of attention to future debates in sociolo gical theory. First, instead of creating new grand theories and again and a gain interpreting classics, existing theoretical ideas should be elaborated into effective instruments of explanation. Second, in doing this, more emp hasis should be put on theoretical models of social dynamics. Third, this s hould be linked with a further elaboration of sociological diagnoses of our time.
