Abstract
The iodine-magnesium exchange using i-PrMgBr allows the preparation of magn esiated 3-pyrazolin-5-ones (antipyrines) and functionalized imidazoles whic h after reaction with various electrophiles afford polyfunctional 5-membere d heterocycles.
