I. Rychetsky et O. Hudak, THE FERROELECTRIC PHASE-TRANSITION IN SMALL SPHERICAL-PARTICLES, Journal of physics. Condensed matter, 9(23), 1997, pp. 4955-4965
The ferroelectric phase transition in a small particle depends on its
size. Analytical results concerning the size dependence of the transit
ion temperature, and the polarization profile in the ferroelectric pha
se have been obtained within a phenomenological model, which has been
previously studied only numerically. The model does not take into cons
ideration the depolarization held, assuming full compensation of surfa
ce charges. The dynamic susceptibility deviates from Debye-like behavi
our in exhibiting a broadening at higher frequencies. The static susce
ptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law, and exhibits a similar divergency
at the point of the size-driven transition.
