The study of several populations of the rare Corsican species A. cylindrace
um Gasp. allows the description of its population structure. During its dev
elopment, A. cylindraceum is heterophyllous: the limb shape varies accordin
g to the age and size of the plant and the order of occurrence of the leaf.
In the small populations, often counting less than ten plants, individuals
are self fertile. In larger populations, they are self sterile. Most of th
e populations of A. cylindraceum are clonal, but conservation of this speci
es just needs ecosystem preservation.
