Optimization of luminescent materials for plasma display panels

Plasma display panel technology has the potential to revolutionize the TV m arket by providing large and flat displays that can be hung on the wall. Th e authors introduce the principles of PDP technology (see Figure), and disc uss their approaches to the problems related to the luminescent materials t hat must be over-come to make the technology a reality, e.g., protecting th e phosphor particles with a layer of nanoparticles of MgO.
