Abstract
Resection arthroplasty of a chronically infected total knee arthroplas ty resulted in thin and contracted anterior skin. Expansion of skin us ing Silastic reservoirs (McGhan Medical, Santa Barbara, CA) facilitate d wound closure and rehabilitation following staged total knee reimpla ntation. Prophylactic expansion of skin around the knee avoided salvag e soft tissue procedures such as local and distant tissue flaps.
