A case of papillary serous ovarian adenocarcinoma with choroidal metas
tasis to the eye is reported. Central nervous system metastasis of any
kind is rare from this tumor, and only three cases of choroidal metas
tases have been reported to date. A 67-year-old women presented 2 year
s after diagnosis of Stage IIIC papillary serous ovarian adenocarcinom
a with complaints of a ''teardrop''-shaped visual field defect in her
right eye. Fundoscopic examination revealed metastasis to the superior
-temporal right choroid. No coexisting sites of recurrence were discov
ered. This case highlights the need to thoroughly and promptly investi
gate the etiology of visual field complaints in patients with a histor
y of ovarian cancer. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
