Excitation functions of the nuclear reactions Te-120(d,xn)I-121,I-120m.g we
re measured for the first time from their respective thresholds up to 13.5
MeV. Thin samples prepared by electrolytic deposition of 99.0% enriched Te-
120 on Ti-backing were used. Integral yields of I-121.120m.g were calculate
d from the measured cross section data. A comparison of the Te-122(p,3n)-,
Te-120(p,n)- and Te-120(d,2n)-processes for the production of I-120g is giv
en. The Te-120(d,2n)-process is unsuitable for production purposes since th
e yield of I-120g is very low and the level of I-121 impurity very high. Th
e choice lies either on the Te-122(p,3n)- or the Te-120(p,n)-reaction and i
s governed by the available proton energy and the financial resources for p
rocuring the enriched target material. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All r
