Abstract
To check the equations for breakage and coalescence rates in turbulent disp ersions a simulation program based on the Monte Carlo method has been writt en. The equations of Coulaloglou and Tavlarides (C.A. Coulaloglou, L.L. Tav larides, Drop size distribution and coalescence frequencies of liquid-liqui d dispersions in flow vessels, A.I.Ch.E. J. 22 (1976) 289) were compared to experimental data and the free parameters were recalculated by optimisatio n. Special values were necessary for each liquid system and setting.
